Yesterday the qualifiers for DOTA Summit 9 - BTS Summer Cup were completed - according to the results of 12 days and three stages of the competition, the winners were the Poles from the New Guys team. For the title of champion in the "home tournament" they have to fight with three American teams, one South American, and one Asian. Remarkably, all participating teams, except New Guys, are included in the final top-16 rating of the DPC, and will also visit The International 2018 later this year.
Having beaten the Europeans from Wind and Rain with a score of 3-2, the Polish team New Guys (formerly Team Kinguin / Let's Do It) joins formerly invited OpTic Gaming, paiN Gaming, Evil Geniuses, Fnatic and VGJ.Storm. Thus, all participants of the "summit" became known.
DOTA Summit 9 will be held in the USA Los Angeles from 25 to 29 July. This tournament is not a competition for the Dota Pro Circuit series and will be the final big event of this season on the eve of The International 2018. The format and prize fund of the event are currently unknown.
Traditionally, starting with The Summit 3, 8 teams participate in the Dota 2 tournaments. However, in the last two the organizers decided to introduce some changes: there were nine participating teams in the DOTA Summit 8, and in the upcoming DOTA Summit 9 there were only six teams.
The championship in three tournaments of the series The Summit in a row (DOTA Summit 6, 7 and 8) was won by a team that occupies a leading position in the rating of Dota Pro Circuit of season 17/18 - Virtus.pro, who will miss the July tournament due to the tight schedule of training.
