Epic Games' Fortnite is one of the most popular video games right now. One of the factors of its popularity is their in game dance moves. Epic Games regularly adds new dances moves to the game usually based on those by real-life artists.

Here are some dances that Fortnite copied

How dose Fortnite profit?

This is a subject that most people thought would never happen. Common knowledge is that Epic Games' Fortnite has accumulated over 1 billion dollars in revenue. That is a insane amount especially considering the game has barely been out for 2 years!

Fortnite Battle Royale is a free to play game. But they earn their revenue from people buying in game products. Most of their fundings come from V-bucks and the Seasonal Battle Pass. V-bucks is Fortnite's in game currency, used to buy in game items. The Season Battle Pass includes emotes, skins, and a whole lot of other things to make the game fun. With the Battle Pass you have to play to earn these things. But you can still go to the item shop to buy these skins, emotes, etc with your V-bucks.

Another Lawsuit Against Fortnite!

Man! Why is there always a problem with Epic Games' Fortnite copying somebody? Who else remembers the lawsuit between PubG and Fortnite?

Fortnite Battle Royale has been a mess since its release. It has been 6 seasons but they cannot get the game to be perfect. I know games are not always perfect, but Fortnite is making gaming way more complicated then what it really is.

Fortnite's 'Swipe it' Emote is actually a dance move called The Mille rock made by rapper 2 Milly. The rapper 2 Milly announced that he will be taking legal action against Epic Games for, "stealing his dance moves." I can actually kind of agree with this.

Are you able to copyright on dance moves?

Right now 2 Milly is the voice for every dance that has been copied by Fortnite with 0 credit.

Here is what 2 Milly has to say to Epic Games...

"So yes, of course, conversate us, this is our craft. That you guys basically stole. You stole it for money, so pay us our money."

2 Milly has been working with attorneys to reach out to Epic Games. He is not mad that the fact Epic Games has made million on the game, but more mad about the fact that they stole something that he has created. Right now he is hoping to get legal protection for not only his dance, but for other people's dance moves too!

We have copyright for music, images, etc that you have created. But if you create a dance move can you copyright that? I mean copyright is supposed to protect other people from stealing something you created, right?

According to Shanti Sadtler Conway, a expert attorney...

"Copyright law dose not protect any dance or any dance step or move in particular. Rather, it protects what is called choreographic work. "

So basically 2 Milley is wasting his time and will lose the case. I am on his side but I defiantly think there is no chance he wins.

Yes I agree Fortnite is in the wrong, but techinically they have done nothing wrong. You cannot own a dance move, so they have stolen nothing. And they do not use the original music so no copyright.

But people think what they are doing is morally and ethically wrong.

What Fortnite Should do

When it comes to Fortnite using someones dance move they can and should do a lot of things. One things is that they should try to find a way to give some type of credit to the creator of the dance. Like at least play the actual song to the dance, or not. I think they already know they are wrong because they usually never use the actual song due to copyright reasons. But if they just asked the people to use their stuff, the copyright thing would not be a issue. And it would be cool if they added a back story to the dance from the person. This would make it look a lot less like they were stealing the moves. And boost there reputation, because there are a lot of people who do not agree with what Fortnite is doing right now.

What do you guys think?

Are these rappers being over dramatic? Do they really have the right to copyright dance moves? Is Fortnite in the wrong? Are they stealing dance moves? Should they give credit creator?

Let me know what you guys think in the comment section.
