Teams are assembling, money's being thrown about and it's not just tiddlywinks. Back in May Epic Games put up $100 million for Fornite competitions for the 2018-2019 season.

In June, some of the details were made with the announcement of it's first ProAm tournament. The first Fornite World Cup will take place during E3 in Los Angeles. Here's where the prize pool comes in. According to Epic it will be spread out over a couple of tournaments, major competitions and online events.

If you are interested in the Fortnight World Cup, qualifiers begin this fall and will lead up to the first Fortnite World Cup in 2019. The qualification for the cup is based wholly on merit so no bought or paid for teams or franchises. The expectation is that there will be more information, coming soon, around the qualifiers from Epic. Follow me to stay up to date on this huge event.

2019 Fortnite World Cup

Epic is signalling that it is investing heavily in the promotion of esports with this huge prize pool. They have several gaming frameworks that are capable of hosting events with large communities and gamers. Epic has plenty of room to infuse life into esports and bring in top tier gamers as a developer supported initiative. Rightly so, as it solidifies itself as a premier venue for hosting esport events. It's obvious that as the interest in esports increases, globally, Epic is positioning itself to a commanding position being among the top tier venues for esport gamers. Not to mention being able to capitalize on the popularity of Fortnite.

I'll be following this Epic move as the qualifiers are announced and keep you up to date on the excitement as we head towards the Fortnite World Cup.
