Welcome to the very first episode of My Gaming Life—a new Scorum gaming series where I post my screen shots, gifs, videos and commentary for some of the biggest games out.
About this series: primarily this will be a place where I causally share my gaming adventures. It will be a mix of written commentary, screen shots, gifs and videos. I’m not sure yet if I will bounce between games or focus on one game at a time. It really depends on what kind of feedback I get.
I will always avoid spoilers as best as I can if it involves a story-heavy game. If I do share something revealing, I will always mark it with a “spoilers tag” so please feel free to join in even if you have or haven’t played a game.
For today post: I will be sharing some funny and memorable moments from the early hours of Red Dead Redemption 2. A little fist fight and a stop at a historical place. I talk Red Dead Online for a moment and share some funny clips of getting everyone drunk.
Now let's get things started with a good old fashion fistfight.
Eat Fire Punk
I had made my way back into Valentine (one of the starting towns) to get a bath and sleep for the night. After checking into the hotel, I made my way upstairs to my room, but before I could even get there I heard something. Screams coming from a nearby room. When I busted through the door, some man, half-naked, was trying to assault a woman. But not on my watch. I put a stop to him real quick. He got the first punch, but I got the last. Lights out dog.
A Very Real Place
Anyone from the US South might quickly recognize this iconic location recreated in RDR2. Although the game is based in a fiction location, it closely replicates several famous locations. Here is me and a fellow gang member driving down a real place called Oak Valley Plantation located in St. James Parish, Louisiana, U.S. It was cool to see this very famous place in the game.
Wagon Riding
Some scenic wagon riding here, but this gif has me thinking about Red Dead Online. The online portion of the game is yet to be released, but the beta will be releasing later this month. According to some leaked information, one of the bigger items we will be able to buy online are wagons—and a variety of them. RockstarIntel reports there will be a handful of different wagons to buy, ranging from your standard chuck wagon to a war wagon.
I’ve very curious how Rockstar will overcome the limitations of the game’s setting when it comes to online gameplay. Anyone who played GTA Online knows that the major items in the game to purchase with money (including real money) are expensive vehicles, planes, tanks and submarines. With the setting of RDR2, of course we cannot have any of those previously mentioned items. So how will the developers overcome this? I don’t think wagons will be enough, but I’m sure they have even more planned.
Drinks on Me
A funny one here. Early on in the game you find yourself behind the bar pouring drinks for the townsfolk. Everyone in the place gets to drink for free (of course the moonshine is all stolen), and the guys have something up their sleeves. For the sake of spoilers, I won't say anymore.
Life of a Bartender
There’s a bit of a minigame where you actually pour the drinks, raising the bottle, pouring until they are full, then setting it down. It's a funny little mechanic they threw in the game. Unfortunately you can only do it at this point in the game. It would be great if I could pour people drinks when we are all sitting around camp. Can I just give up the life of robbing and murdering and just become a bartender during the old west? Lol.
