I made a post about violent games not making it to the Olympics the other day. If eSports  made it to the Olympics, what should you expect? FIFA ofcourse. 😁🤣

Well, some PES lovers would break my head for this.

When I was younger, I always looked out for new versions of games every now and then. The internet was my haven and I made a lot of purchases on the internet. It was a competition among my friends and classmates on who had the best skill in playing soccer game; PES or FIFA.

I was the quiet kid whose parents were only concerned about academic performance. My parents never had the thought to buy me and my siblings a game console; instead we got full access to cartoon network and nickelodeon every evening after our science tutor left in the evening.

Their interest paid off as I developed a sound reading culture and went to the best schools.

Writing about games is quite interesting though. I had a touch with all a few games as I made seldom visits to the game centers after school before going home.

Mortal Kombat, MK as we fondly called it was my best. I remember those days when we all went for game rounds at gaming shops fondly called game centers. The loser paid for the games. We memorized game pad combinations and some even kept a journal. Good old days.

From Nintendo DS to PlayStation Portable (PSP) to PlayStation consoles then X Box. It was fun in those days.

The boys with game consoles had all the friends. I had to understand the differences between FIFA owned by EA Games and Pro Evolution Soccer owned by Konami.

Maybe I should write on “What makes a soccer game, Graphics or Features?”

PES lovers will say graphics while FIFA lovers will say features especially for FIFA 19.

Over the years, FIFA releases a single game every year. Often, there is always a little change and additions which might not be so obvious. Taking into consideration a compilation of games all over the years, you will notice changes in the players’ abilities, improvements in graphics, addition of new features and all.

We all want to see new kits, rosters, players’ haircut and so on. Some others want to see C.Ronolado wearing a Juventus jersey for the first time.

A new release always causes a kind of excitement among fans and sports lovers who just want to play the game and have fun.

Here we go with the changes.

First on the list is “Champions League”

FIFA 19 owners can now feel the fun on their consoles as Champions League licensing is no longer a property of Pro Evolution Soccer. EA games got the licensing to include it in the tournament section of the game.

Although Konami has not given any explanation for losing the license, many people attribute it to disagreement on renewal costs.

However, Konami has a new set of licenses to flaunt despite not having Champions league which they once bragged about.

What about Champions League?

UEFA Champions League is one of the most globally followed brands in Football. The tournament is the height of club competition as the best teams across Europe meet for the trophy.

Right to include Champions League in FIFA 19 would infer two things for the FIFA franchise;

First, gamers have a better gaming experience as they can import reality into the virtual environment so this means more purchases.

Secondly, FIFA players can now brag about their games. FIFA enthusiasts have points to support their game against Pro Evolution Soccer lovers who are die-hard supporters.

Konami used the feature to advertise and push FIFA out of the way for customers.

There are also two main components which will be added to the mode,

These are: Stat Tracking and Match Types.

New Match Types

The Match Types added are as follows from the official statement:

  1. Survival Mode -

For this mode, it is real survival as the players push to the limit. For every goal scored, a player from the scoring team is removed. The removal will not include the goalkeeper. This will in a way be a form of challenge for the player with a score advantage.

Pros: This game has no rules. No offside calls, no fouls, no bookings. You must survive.

Cons: You can only have an achievement in this mode. Winner = loser.

2. Long Range Mode –

This is my best mode.

For a goal scored inside the box, it will count as one goal, and any goal scored from outside the box will count as two goals. This mode will have many gamers practicing and practicing shots from different directions.

3. First to 'x' (score) –

This match mode comes with a bunch of medals. It allows a user to set custom win conditions like first to score (golden goal), first to three goals, first to score in first and second half, etc. Quite ridiculous but it’s a world of many possibilities with FIFA 19.

4. Headers and Volleys Mode –

This is a difficulty level type my cousin will gladly play.

Users can choose to only score in this mode with only a header or a volley. Free kicks and penalties will be counted but any other goal scored with the feet which isn’t a volley will not count as a goal.

5. Best of Series –

Users can play classic matches in series to determine the overall winner (three or five-match series).

6. Home & Away –

This is a double match type in which users play two matches home and away, to determine the overall winner.

The winner is determined by the aggregate score. The team that has the highest number of combined goals from the two matches will be the winner.

If both teams have the same score after both matches, the team with the highest goals away wins.

If both teams seem to have a tie, extra time and penalty shootout will do the job.

7. Cup Finals –

It’s time to import reality into the virtual world.

Name it; Champions League Final, Europa League Final, FA Cup Final, and a few others can be played here.

With special imports like official kits, badges, match balls, and authentic broadcast overlays, the experience can only look real.

Stat tracking will give both an in-depth breakdown of how your game went as well as providing tracked milestones for Head to Head comparisons between you and that one friend who insists he’s the better player.

Not only that, but you can sync these stats to their online servers in order to bring out the hard proof whenever and wherever they challenge your prowess.

8. Active Touch System

EA sports really tried on this. Active Touch System (ATS) is the technology that makes passes, strikes, receiving look real.

Active Touch System makes actions look real and fluid. It lets you play in a natural-looking real environment.

On their website, EASports claims there are multiple ways of trapping the ball.

Truth is Active Touch System makes FIFA 19 look and feel realer than other soccer games.

Watch out on my next post where I make PES 19 fans happy on how PES decided to handle the Champions league issue by signing some interesting deals.

Thanks for reading.

Feel free to crucify me PES lovers. Please don't mention graphics while trying to prove your point.
