hey dear users of Scorum, before starting I want to thank you for your support in my last post.
Today I want to introduce you to the world of electronic sports, given that I was a recurring player of league of legends and I came to be in 4% of the best players in my region (North Latin America), But because I am very busy with certain responsibilities and given that my PC had a problem that left my graphic card unusable I have not been able to continue climbing in the ranking. I am a fan of this trend that every year gets more audience!
First, we must bear in mind that playing certain games competitively is a sport, even though there is no physical effort, a great mental involvement is required.
Countries like Germany and the United States recognize E-sports competitors as athletes. Another example of sports that do not require physical effort are chess and poker. Based on that we can define what E-sports are, they are all kinds of competitions, whether online or in-person, in which several players, usually divided into teams competing for prizes and recognition.
E-sports have existed for some years, but their great impact in our current times is mainly due to the internet and his great ability to unite people from all over the world.
You only have to know the case of the company twich.tv, which was bought by Amazon for almost a billion dollars in 2014 and has been a strategically ingenious purchase. Twitch is a video streaming platform where people from anywhere in the world can share anything with their viewers, this platform allowed competitive games like league of legends, Dota 2, fornite and counter strike global offensive to get millions of spectators annually, a surprising fact is that last year the league of legends final was seen by more people than the NBA final. Currently, the audience is 256 million viewers and the number is expected to rise to 345 million by 2019.
Despite what you may believe, this kinds of sports had its first appearance in 1972 when a university in California made a tournament with the game called SpaceWar and the prize they offered was an annual subscription to the fabulous magazine of the Rollings Stones. and free beer!
It is also a multi-million dollar business, there are tournaments that offer about a million dollars to the winners and without counting the sponsorships of the renowned brands such as Movistar and even football teams and athletes want to participate in this great phenomenon.
How can we unite E-sports and Scorum?
Scorum gives us the opportunity to access a giant community interested in all kinds of sports, including E-sports. Personally, I would like to organize an online tournament of any competitive game from this list: (you can also suggest games of your liking)
- Dota2
- League of Legends
- Fornite
- Counter strike Global Offensive
- Hearthstone
- Paladins
I would like to know if there are users interested in helping me organize this tournament, for now, it is an idea but clearly the prizes will be in Scorum (by now, we will only use Scorum power). We need users to support us as sponsors, organizers and several users with followers that help us to have several participants in the tournament.
Just imagine what potential we have to build our own competitive community for electronic sports, we can even attract people who are outside the cryptocurrency world and if we are lucky, one day we will can organize a face-to-face tournament, of course, these are all speculations but dreaming costs nothing.
I just try to drop ideas to help this blogging community, I do not have the skills to help you in the betting section so I can not defend myself on that subject. however I am a lover of ideas, I think that no idea is stupid and anyone can add value to our newly born blockchain, so I hope that there are people interested in helping me to devise this first online tournament of E-sports in Scorum.
