Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 (PES 2018) becomes one of six branches of E-Sports (electronic sports) which will be held at the Asian Games 2018, Jakarta-Palembang. E-Sports branch goes into demonstration or exhibition status.

The status is still winning medals for the winners. However, medals will not be counted or merged with other official sports branches.

Of the six E-Sports branches, PES 2018 becomes the anticipated branch. In addition to familiar, this branch is the most popular sports simulation around the world, football.

Eight countries will compete for gold medal from E-Sports branch, PES 2018. Indonesia as the host, no need to follow the qualification of Southeast Asian zone.

Qualifications are unique and varied. Of the five regions, only East Asia whose qualifying round takes place offline in Changzhou, China.

Japan appeared dominant by sweeping victories over Hong Kong, South Korea, Macau, and Mongolia. This is not surprising because the PES developer, Konami, is a Japanese company. Another East Asian representative is Hong Kong.

Southeast Asia added representatives to the three countries after Vietnam and Malaysia escaped qualification to accompany Indonesia. The other three representatives are Kazakhstan (Central Asia), India (South Asia), and Iran (West Asia). In these areas, the qualifying round takes place online.

In addition to PES 2018, five E-Sports competed in other Asian Games 2018 are Arena of Valor, Clash Royale, Heartstone, League of Legends, and Starcraft II.
