Raver Gamers, rejoice!

It seems that there won't be long before every niche market is getting hit by eSports and fans might have expected this to come down the pipeline. PLAY, an electronic music and gaming festival has just been announced!

EDC put on by Insomniac, the company behind PLAY!

EDM and gaming tend to cross genres a lot, especially with the likes of Marshmello who has competed a few times with the likes of Ninja and owns his own streaming platform. Even Deadmau5 has been known to use platforms such as Twitch to touch base with his fans. And let's face it, techno tends to be the perfect mix of high energy music you need to keep the killstreaks coming and they tend to go hand in hand.

There isn't a lot known about the festival just yet except that it is being put on by the same people that run EDC Las Vegas, Insomniac. So if you're expecting a brightly lit, beat pumping, games on every screen kind of festival, you probably won't be far from the truth!

This will definitely tap into the more extroverted gaming crowd since there is to be a lot of big names in dance music performing while eSports competitions are held and cosplayers bounce in the crowd. The areas of focus for the festival will revolve around gaming (retro, arcade modern, and VR), eSports, promotions, cosplaying, and music (of course). But it won't only be dance, hip-hop will also have a place on the main stage!

It smacks of a digital burning man that will feature such things as VR experience, drone racing, laser tag, and even art installations all around the festival. It is hard to not imagine an old arcade machine decked out with lasers in the middle of a very enthused and sweaty crowd!

Right now, most of the details are being held back until more planning and the venue can be selected but PLAY is slated for 2019.

And I seriously want a ticket.

However, here we have an upcoming event that we do know is coming soon and absolutely going to be a massive hit, the 2018 WCS Global Finals. Running on October 27th through to November 4th in the "Blizzard Arena" hosted in Los Angeles at the Anaheim Convention Center.

From Battlenet.

With an overall prize pool of a whopping US$700,000 or just shy of $1,000,000 AUD! With a top prize of $280,000 for a first placement, $140,000 for second and even $42,000 apiece for 3rd and 4th, 5th and 8th scoring $21,000 and further still 9th through to 16th getting a hefty $14,000 to cover the expenses (sponsors really coming through!). With such a large purse on offer, I'm sure the players will be giving it one hundred and ten percent when hitting the battlefield!

We will see incredible action and massive plays I'm sure so make sure you tune in to the stream if you can't make it!

I personally can't wait for this huge event and it is my humble opinion that Serral will take it down this year but with big names like Classic, Zest, Maru, TY, Dark and Stats throwing down it could be anyone's game. I'll be watching to make sure, what about you?

Are you excited about either of these events? Let me know in the comments down below!
