Welcome to another edition of eSports New Tech News, your one-stop-shop for the latest happenings in the gaming sphere!

Let's jump in!

Overwatch in-game Viewer

From the Overwatch Developer Update Video!

Before Blizzcon arrives and the tournaments begin, Battle.net is rolling out a brand new spectator tool for Overwatch!

The latest tool finally gives some control to the viewer as to how they would like to watch the live streaming games. That's right, you get to control the camera!

You will have the ability to choose if you want to watch the match from FPV of players or you can use a third person camera to look wherever you want!

Since the game is incredibly fast-paced and it is hard to catch every detail, the tool will also include replays and slow motion!

The beta will be available on Battle.net ahead of Blizzcon, but I'm not exactly sure when! But I will definitely be going in to play around with it!

It is highly unlikely it will be ready for launch and use in the tournament since it is going beta only a week beforehand, but we can hope!

Here is the announcement video!

(By the way, Unity Technologies' announced CineCast Mode, an AI based spectating tool today, as well!)

QTime Game Limiter

Credit to the University of Bath!

This the worst nightmare for any gamer with a parent that thinks that competitive gaming is a waste of time.

The Qtime (for Quiet Time) is a small device that can be plugged into any Xbox, Playstation, or PC and can be used to monitor and limit the gaming time. It is controlled wirelessly by an app on the parent's phone and allows them to see how much gaming has been done for the day.

It even allows them to remotely turn off the screen! Oh god, can you imagine?

They also have figured out a way around it being unplugged. If it is, the device immediately sends an email to the game hating parental figures to make them aware, and then it assumes whether the system they are trying to limit is being used or not. This will allow them to think about how long they plan to ground you for before they return home.

At least if you are playing and about to reach your allotted game time for the day it gives you a 10 minute warning. Before it completely shuts the system down.

This sounds like something I used to have bad dreams about when I was a kid...

Game Pass coming to PC

Xbox announced that they are bringing their subscription gaming pass to PC's. This isn't that much of a surprise since Microsoft is working on CloudX, the multi-platform cross play.

It appears that this might be somewhat of a test in gearing up for that program to go public. Also, to see how well a $10 a month limited game availability will do when offered to PC.

The only downside is some games on the Game Pass store may not be available to play or download with the pass, but the Play Anywhere games are included! However, it is expected that the limited games will change after it fully rolls out.

Considering the games on offer are already compatible with PC, some people would rather go to Steam and buy it once than pay monthly. Unless there are other games on the menu that offset the cost, of course!

It is unclear exactly WHEN it is coming, but it is indeed coming! So keep your eyes peeled!
