Just when you thought that you had seen it all, a brand new style of eSports tournament makes its debut!

From their website!

On October 14th a Dota2 tournament is going to be premiered at the PokerGo Studio in Las Vegas. It doesn't sound like big news until you find out what the pitting is going to be like!

Taking a page from the book of Real World Competitive Sports, the match is set up with 8 teams playing each other. Once the victor's reign supreme, they are then to face off against newcomers!

And with such a wild tournament, they had to have a badass name:

"World Showdown of eSports"

The idea is that these kinds of matchups make for more narrative and storytelling. Allowing them to build alliances, an arch nemesis, and for rematching and continuous play-offs that will add suspense.

From WSoE's website!

Even though it might sound a little hinky and cheesy, it appears that a big name in the gaming industry doesn't think so. WSoE is being sponsored by Asus Republic of Gaming! They are supplying everything. Computers, laptops, consoles, headsets, mice, keyboards, the whole shebang!

While watching the 8 teams compete on the stream, viewers will have the opportunity to win Asus ROG gear, as well!

The prize pool is for $100,000 and the new competition will run the 14th through the 15th at 9am PDT! But this isn’t the only one, it appears they want to run this tournament like a series!

What do you think? Will you be tuning in if for nothing more than a chance to win some Asus equipment? I think I will!
