The monsters of Steem take on Loomnetwork's pet zombies in this card game throwdown. Conducted by me. Swolesome. An early investor and staple to both communities. Who else can give a focused in-depth look at comparing two similar projects than someone who has followed them since they were created?

"The cards. The cards will tell. The past, the present and the future as well."

This isn't voodoo but it has a spark of magic. Card games have a rich and treasured history, spanning decades and millions of memories. It only makes sense that one day it will follow the path to crypto and the blockchain.

Not going to get into the nitty gritty of what a blockchain is, how it works and that stuff. Just know you can actually own your cards. Typically digital cards seen in games like Hearthstone or Magic Online they are leased to your account. If you get banned, lose your device or get hacked those cards are gone for good. I love card games because good players can easily be spotted and you can do an almost infinite amount of matches a day due to the fact games take little time to set up and play. I even am looking into making a tournament for online players using one of these games for SCR prizes.

This will be an ongoing series where I dive into two specific video games and place them head to head. I want both to succeed and like I said I have been following them since they were announced. But I will have to be blunt because these games deserve a honest opinion before someone gets tempted to throw money at them.

*They both have pros and cons in this part of their development. A main reason why I am NOT posting this on Steemit is because this will not be a Steemmonster fluff piece it'll get buried under those who do write them on Steemit. Besides both of these projects could use more exposure to possible players outside of their retrospective echo chambers.

The post is a way to briefly introduce the two projects. I will create longer posts comparing the two games on certain points.

If the creators are brave enough maybe even let me question them. See which dev team wants to step up to the plate first.

While this is not a fight to the death it is still pertinent to see which fanbase comes out more for their game. I think one has a much better chance of becoming and staying huge but I will save that for the last post in the series. My opinion may change because of what occurs.

And whichever fanbase comes out more at the end of the series I give away a legendary card from the winning game to one lucky commenter who gives their honest opinion in the comments for these posts.

Tale of the Tape:

Steemmonsters

The Skinny:

 * Steemmonsters is a decentralized digital card game played on the Steem blockchain.

 * Cards can be bought and sold now and you actually own them via having a Steemmonsters/Steem account.

 * Thousands of dollars have already been bought and sold for packs and individual card sales on the Steemmonster website.

 * There is no alpha for players and the beta will not be available till possibly mid-Oct.

 * The lore was crowdsourced by users of the Steem community and there are plans to do an animated series based on the creatures

Of course, I did not mention everything for this or ZB. Saving it for the next posts.

Zombie Battleground

The Skinny:

* Zombie Battleground formerly known as Crypto Zombie Battleground is a Magic: The Gathering-style collectible card game that stores all of your game assets and data on its own dedicated DAppChain.

* Styled like hearthstone it gives it a twist with factions that are weaker and stronger against each other

* Raised over 323,000 dollars via Kickstarter alone with 2 million cards being distributed to players

* Can not play with the cards people paid for but selected players can play the alpha right now with the entire collection

*Insert catchy slogan to upvote and follow me*

That wraps up everything I want to divulge for the intro.

So Scorum.

Was it too short even for a brief intro?

Will I be too soft on these games?
