When I say video games, I'm not talking about Temple Run or Bubble Shoot, I'm actually talking about advanced consoles such as PS2, PS3, PS4 and the likes. Right from childhood, I've always wondered why it has always been the male folks crazy about gaming than the ladies.
Please don't get me wrong! I'm not trying to say that there are no ladies that are games freaks, all I'm trying to say is that ladies aren't really interested in the idea of videos games unlike men. The idea of gaming has always been more of a "man thing" and if you look at your friends or neighbours, you will discover that guys are so passionate with gaming than ladies. Sometimes, our girlfriends even get angry when we're glued to gaming and paying no attention to them.
In gaming centres, you will see the environment is usually dominated by guys with just a few or no ladies. In my entire life, I have barely seen a lady sitting in front of a 42 inch Samsung TV playing Assassins Creed, Grand Theft Auto, God of War, or Devil May Cry. Although, I know there are ladies who are game freaks in other climes but they will always be fewer than guys.
In my personal opinion, I think the reason why gaming idea is more of a "man thing" is because ladies don't really like anything that requires mental calculations. I have asked a few ladies why they don't really like playing games and they told me it looks stressful to them and that's why they prioritize other things. They prefer their own obsessions like fashion, clothes, shoes, bags, gisting, etc
Looking at Scorum, the platform is highly dominated by men and just a few ladies. This means that the idea of sports and gaming in general is more of a male thing. Even some men who have been game freaks from childhood are now married still play games in their leisure time. This shows the undying passion men have for gaming.
Note: this isn't a generalization for all ladies, it's just based on my observations in this clime.
