Andrea Tafi (52) is really serious about the start of Paris-Roubaix next year. The ex-winner of the 'Hell of the North' wants to prove that you can also exercise at the highest level as a 53-year-old person. "If I get the chance, I'll go to Roubaix to change a physical boundary."

"It's a dream of mine"

It was conceived here and there as a joke, but Andrea Tafi is aiming for a place in the peloton that he will be at the start of Paris-Roubaix next year. "Yes, that plan is right," explains Tafi to the local tv. "It's a dream of mine."

"It is part of a project where I want to see the evolution of the bicycle and the cycling sport of my victory in Roubaix in 1999. It would be an honor for me to be at the start of this race."

"I know very well that I will be almost 53 years old at the start, I know what I should and will do, and if I get the chance, I'll go to Roubaix to push a physical boundary.

Tafi still cycles nearly 20,000 kilometers each year. "It's a challenge for me, I know what to expect, anything can happen, but if I do it, it will be a great experience and something unique for a 50-plus."

"If I already have a team? Tafi smiles, ' we're working on that, if a team believes in my project, then there's a 100 percent chance."

His career

Andrea Tafi was a helper in the team, he could ride kilometers and kilometers as fast as they wanted him to ride. A great guy, very nice attitude. At that time, they drove Paris Roubaix without a helmet. Can you imagine?

He won each year around 5 races. Tour of Flandres and Paris Roubaix are the nicest ones.

See you soon Tafi!
