Yves Lampaert won the Belgian cycling championship on the road in Binche. After his title in time trial in 2017, it is the second Belgian title for the 27-year-old West-Flemish hard driver of Quick Step Floors, who after a thrilling title battle in the final jump away from a group of three. Teammate Philippe Gilbert was perhaps the best man in the race and finished second, Jasper Stuyven was third on the podium.

Yves won already several races although he works most of the time for the big names in his team. He knows what it is to work hard since his parents are farmers. A lot of respect for his power and his loyality. The big fish is finally there .

Personally I'm a fan of Gilbert since I was driving with him when we were 16 years old but Yves lives 5 km from my house. It makes me happy as well. Gilbert brought the cycling in Belgium together with Tom Boonen and Greg Vanaevermaat to a high level.
