Germany's Kristina Vogel, a two-time track cycling champion, was paralyzed following her crash during a training session in June at Cottbus, she said in a statement to Der Spiegel magazine.

"I do not know what to do, I know I will not walk again, but I always believed that the faster I took the situation, the faster I would learn to live with it," said Vogel, 27, , in his first statements after the accident.

Only the cyclist's family was aware of the consequences of the accident on June 26, when she collided violently with another cyclist on the track during a training session in Cottbus, Germany.

Vogel is currently in a hospital in Berlin, where a press conference is scheduled for next Wednesday.

Vogel has won 11 world titles for teams (2012, 2013, 2014 and 2018), individual (2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018) and keirin. In addition to Olympic titles, team speed in London2012 and individual speed in Rio2016, (2014, 2016 and 2017)
