Roeselare, capital of world champions, welcomes you to the 19th World Press Cycling Championship (WPCC).

Belgium is the host country for the WPCC, the world cycling championship for journalists, with UCI as a proud supporter. During this event, Roeselare will be welcoming journalists from more than twenty different countries.

During a period of three days, journalists from all over the world will be competing in Roeselare to win the title of the best cyclist in the world among the press community. Individual Time Trial

The route

A roughly 15-km route guides all participants to Roeselare's green belt land. After you have negotiated a few cobblestones you can start picturing yourself in the role of a real world champion.

We put our heads together to decide how best to offer the WPCC 2018 participants a varied course teeming with lots of fun facts. Did you know that a race is organised here every year, for none other than Patrick Lefevere, the well-known Belgian cycling manager? And isn't that the home of world champion Freddy Maertens? Not to be missed under any circumstances!

Participation in the individual time trial is allowed only if those taking part use the same bike they rode during the ride in line (which takes place on Sunday 26/08/18).

For teams of the same country or of the same editorial company such as like VRT, RAI, Eurosport, Grinta etc. = 2 categories:

Group A: total age of each team: max. 150 years

Group B: total of each team 151 years and more

The route

The road race consists of various distances between categories M1, M2, M3 and women.

M3 & W = 45 km, start 13:00 hrs.

M1 & M2 = 75 km, start 15:00 hrs.

Categories

The World Press Cycling Championship is a championship that applies the legislation and regulations of the UCI and Cycling Vlaanderen. Four categories are used:

WPCC cat. M1: for men aged 21 to 44 (born 1997-1974)

WPCC cat. M2: for men aged 45 to 59 (born 1973-1959)

WPCC cat. M3: for men aged 60 and older (born 1958 and older)

WPCC cat. women aged 21 (born 1997 and older)
