The first stage of the Tour of Britain was won on Sunday by André Greipel, who dominated the sprint in front of Caleb Ewan (Mitchelton-Scott) and Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors), who unleashed the hostilities of too far.
A step that was nevertheless cut for a puncher with a hill placed 7 km from the finish. This last bump has been the scene of several attacks, including that of Geraint Thomas (Team Sky), followed by Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Floors). The French then flew alone before being retaken. His teammate Bob Jungels then set his attack but he was retaken in the red flame.
Thanks to his success, Greipel logically takes the lead of the general classification ahead of Ewan and Gaviria.
