Vuelta - 2018. Conclusion.
Yesterday the anti-plagiarism system appeared on Scorum. This is my first post after the implementation of the system, so I write being a little beat excited, that’s why misprints may appear in text because of shaking hands)) In the post itself, we recall the events of the recently concluded last Grand Tour of the season, trying not to forget all those who did this Vuelta the most spectacular season race. Rohan Dennis (BMC Racing) as expected took two confident wins in the ITT races. The victory at the first stage allowed him to put on a red jersey, and after the sixteenth stage, won with a colossal advantage of 50 seconds over the nearest pursuer Rohan decided got off the race. One of the heroes of the first week is definitely Benjamin King (Dimension Data), who managed to win at two stages (the fourth and the ninth). First he won at the last meters of the distance from Nikita Stalnov, and then he did not allow Bauke Mollema to come close to himself. Elia Viviani (Quick Step Floors) won 3 sprint stages, demonstrating stability in the final meters, than once again shows that this season he is the number 1 sprinter in the world, if it is a standard flat sprint. Thibaut Pinot (Groupama - FDJ) showed his best in the last week of the race, winning two mountain stages by beautiful attacks (fifteenth and nineteenth). This allowed him to jump to the sixth place in the general classification. If the Frenchman regarded the Vuelta as preparation for the world championship that starts soon, then we can consider his plan to be completely executed. At the end of the Vuelta young racers showed themselves well: Enric Mas and Miguel Lopez, who took the second and third places on the podium respectively. And if many expected a repeat of last year's achievements from the superman Lopez, then Mas became a real young-star of the Vuelta - 2018. Moving to the opposite point of the age axis we should mention the achievements of the super-veteran Alejandro Valverde (Movistar), who in addition to fighting for the victory in the overall standings to the last stages, but also won two stages (second and eighth). Also, Valverde managed to win the green jersey of the race. Oscar Rodriquez (Euskatel Basque Country) won the most unexpected victory on the Vuelta. After going to the breakaway in the thirteenth stage, he managed to stole victory from such experienced riders as Rafal Maika and Dylan Tunes. This victory was the only victory of the rider not from the team of the world tour. Well, of course, speaking of the remembered racers, we can not forget to mention the winner - the British Simon Yates (Mitchelton Scott). Having failed in the final stages of the Giro, Yates managed to recover to the final Grand Tour and win a beautiful style. If compare victories of Sky and Yates, I can say that Yates’ victory is the most beautiful and spectacilar, because unlike Sky, Simon's victory was not so "mathematically verified", and Yates's contribution to his victory is higher than that of Froome and Thomas. And in conclusion I will mention two more riders, but former riders, who played an essential role in the current race. Thanks to them, watching the stages was more interesting. I’m talking about two Eurosport co-hosts: Juan Antonio Flecha and Alberto Contador, who, in my opinion, brilliantly solved the task of highlighting the most interesting places and events in the race. I want you to write in commetns the most ungorgetable for you moments of Vuelta - 2018.
