Hey guys,

Sorry for the lack of updates the last few days but i have been out of town visiting family and taking a well earned break from things. Don't worry though i am back and ready for action haha, so let's do this!

Regular readers of my blogs will know the path that has been forced upon Dean Wilson as his contract expired with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory team. That being said he has not taken the news laying down and has been super active on social media with regular updates and interesting insights into the journey of a privateer. That, i believe will be the key to securing him a factory deal as with any sport you need to keep your name out there and the more buzz around a rider can only be a good thing. If you haven't seen the video he made where he dressed up as an eighty year old man and schooled a few pro riders then check it out here haha, it's gold!

I reported yesterday that he will now be picking up the free slot left by Justin Barcia's withdrawal to ride the upcoming AUS-X event in Sydney Australia. So that means he has just a few weeks to get everything sorted out. That means not just a bike but kit, graphics, parts, spares and just about everything that a factory rider would not have to deal with. On top of that he will have to train on and off the bike and make sure his nutrition is on point also.

This is the path of a privateer and now for Wilson this means he is now not just a rider. He is a team manager, accountant, secretary and all the jobs a team has to share between staff. It's a tall order to privateer at the very highest level of this sport and i really hope he can pull it off. His path is now the same as Justin Barcias was last year and Barica is now sitting pretty on the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Team so there is always hope. Deano was super fast last year in Supercross before a nasty shoulder injury in the early part of the season took him out of the running.

I salute him for this positivity and even if you are not a fan of the sport i think it's a great life lesson for anyone to listen to. Life will beat you up and there is nothing you can do about it. No amount of moaning or complaining or feeling bad about it will change that. The thing to keep in mind is that it's not how you get knocked down that defines you, it's about how you get back up. Deano is doing a great job at showing everyone that if you keep positive and don't let life get you down good things will happen.

So check it out guys, another great insight into the life of a privateer :)
