What a treat i have for you this morning! MotoVision went behind the scenes and in depth with Team GB for last years Motocross of Nations at Matterley Basin and documented the full journey from start to podium finish. Not only was this a historic event for the team but it was on home soil and it ended the hurt as it was the first podium since 1997 in Belgium! Twenty years is a long time but they had come close picking up six fourth place's and multiple fifths and sixths but just missing out on the top three.
Max Anstie was in the form of his life last year and rode his socks off winning both his MXGP class motos and helps propel the team into the top three and within fighting chance of a win. This documentary is a great look at past, present and what really goes on behind the scenes to make sure a team has everything in place to ensure success on one of the hardest stages in world motocross.
The conditions at Matterly Basin were simply horrible and i have the utmost respect for any rider that can ride in a mudder like that. Just keeping the bikes on two wheels is hard enough and these guys do a lot more than that. Dean Wilson did not even get a lap in before he was forced to ditch his goggles and riding a complete race without them in simply insane. You are bombarded with mud, rocks and rain which is not only painful but very dangerous as any debris in the eye is a massive risk. The team had everything stacked against them and they pushed through it all and that is the true heart of a champion.
Grab a drink and get comfy guys, enjoy :)
