There is a bomb in a rallying world right now and it says that Citroen World Rally Team will withdraw from the sport at the end of the current season. I mean, season is already over with cancellation of Rally Australia but the team is disappointed with the bad results this season and it is almost over for them for this stint.

They really tried and they tried hard. They brought the best driver in the market - Seb Ogier who was six times WRC champion in the row and it didn't help. Something was just bad with that C3 WRC rally car.

They tested so hard and made some improvements with the chassis but the balance of the car just wasn't there and it also needed to say that competition just progressed better.

There is also one more important thing to say - Toyota and Hyundai have much bigger budget for rallying at the moment and that's big factor in the motorsport. M-Sport Ford is just semi-private team and they don't have budget big as Citroen's but they still have better car I would say.

What next?

Seb Ogier will easily find a new job after he will know more from his current team. But Esappeka Lappi won't have easy path to find a new factory seat. He will have to consider a drive in some of the WRC2 teams because it is just impossible to pt all these quality drivers into the works seats.

We will know more in the following weeks.

Stay tuned.
