I already wrote about Alonso testing Toyota Hilux rally car prepared for Dakar Rally and the rallies from the Dakar series.

Today I found out that things go even further and that Fernando Alonso will driver Dakar Rally 2020. That's a great news for the sport of rallying.

They are currently testing in Namibia and that should be a great opportunity for Alonso to familiarize with that super strong endurance car and the experience in this type of rallies is crucial.

What to expect from Alonso's first Dakar?

I would say nothing spectacular. He should be very pleased if he even gets to the finish line but I doubt that.

For Dakar you need an experience from rallying and he doesn't have it at all, only a few tests.

He should drive some cross-country rallies before the Dakar just to see what it is the endurance driving.

Great stuff for sure.
