French oil company Total is an exclusive partner of Citroen World Rally Team for years. And Citroen has a long heritage in the automotive industry, as well as in the world of rallying.

Bigger success in WRC came with the Xsara F2 kit car, the rally car which I noticed for the first time in 1998 on Rally Corsica when Bugalski drove it until it broke down because of the suspension. Car had so much power for an atmospheric engine, around 320bhp and 280kg less the WRC cars which had four wheel drive and Xsara only front wheel drive.

Xsara F2 was a killer on tarmac. They even scored two wins in 1999, in Catalunya and Corsica. I remember very good that win in Catalunya because it was live on Eurosport the last special stage. It was really extra ordinary.

This season they have again the winner Seb Ogier who already scored two wins for the team in 2019.

Only time will tell how good they are this season. They have a suoer star behind a wheel, the rest is on the engineers.
