There's no rally fan that didn't hear for Colin McRae. He was truly a legend of this sport and first highly paid super star. He was paid like a footballers on a peak of his career.

I heard that he took 7m GBP for a one year contract with Citroen in 2003. Only footballers had that kind of contracts back then. Unfortunately. that was his last super contract because he lost his job on a full season scale. He drove two rallies for Škoda in 2005 and one rally with Citroen in 2006 (Rally of Turkey) and that was his last appearance in WRC.

I remember so good about his last rally in Turkey, I was super excited, even I was kinda sick that weekend. Fans were saying that he is finished with WRC, there was no super speed from him that weekend. It's hard to expect top 3 times after you are away from sport for months.

We saw how it all went bad for Marcus Gronholm this weekend in Sweden. Only constant drive can give you speed you want and need.

Lets go back to the days when I already knew about Colin and his blue Subaru, that was Legacy and not Impreza in 1993. Yeah, I followed the sport in 1993 with the same fire as today.

Colin and his co-driver Derek RInger ruled the world of rallying. It was all or nothing all the time.
