Hi, Steemers!
Volkswagen World Rally Team finished the process of homologation of their newest rally weapon called Polo R5 and the car is ready for Rally Catalunya which starts this weekend.
In my opinion these are good news because it shows that manufacturers are still interested for the rally sport and see the potential of it in the marketing way or they want to sell as much as possible their rally cars to potential customers.
Volkswagen Motorsport hired two high profile drivers in Petter Solberg, who is the ex-World Rally Champion from season 2003 and ex-Toyota and M-Sport works driver Eric Camilli who is the VW works driver in this occasion. Camilli tested with Volkswagen extensively for the most of the 2018 season and he knows the car very well but Petter Solberg was of the biggest stars of the sport and also highly paid superstar of the World Rally Championship who's life was tightly connected with Monte Carlo and it's luxury life.
Guys tested extensively last weeks just ahead of the homologation process and we can expect to see them in the right form.
The only problem can be car's reliability which is the often problem of all the new rally cars so it can be potential danger for VW team and their drivers. It is also called a 'teeth problems'.
In a few days we will see how good was their work and how good and fast is their 'new born machine'.
Great looking car, anyway!
Thanks for the photo and videos to WRC.com and Youtube.
