GP GERMANY: After one year of rest, the HOCKENHEIM CIRCUIT IS READY TO ROAR THE MOTORS OF AGAIN

Lewis Hamilton takes pole position in Germany 2016

The first edition of the German GP dates back to 1926, but it was only in 1951, which was considered valid for the Formula 1 World Championship: the time spent on the long, difficult and complicated circuit of the Nurburgring Nordschleife was the scene of that terrifying incident in 1976 that happened to Niki Lauda, who crashed into the rocks of the Bergwerk curve. After this drama, he moved to the Temple of Speed in Hockenheim, which remained a privileged site until the mid-2000s despite the major renovation of the track in 2002 that involved the elimination of the long straights that characterized it.

But from 2008 onwards, as a matter of commercial rights between the AVD car clubs and ADAC, financial difficulties, have led to the alternate stations of the German GP would come to life in Hockenheimring and then in Design GP Nurburgring. The challenge between the two tracks, at the end, saw the first privileged whose last edition dates back two years ago with Lewis Hamilton winning his Mercedes.

Among the GERMAN forests is a circuit, the Hockenheim is a track located near the town of the same name in the north of the Land Baden-Württemberg, and in its original design had a very long and very fast configuration, passing through the nearby forests. In the 1970s, however, its total length was reduced to just under 7 km and it had very long straights that allowed it to be known as the "Temple of Speed". In the early 2000s, and because of strict levels of Formula 1 safety, they changed the design, reducing it to the current 4,574 km for 17 corners, as the wooded sections did not allow for sufficient display of advertising posters and because a shorter GP was considered more efficient but with a greater number of laps.
