Mercedes GP driver Lewis Hamilton successfully defeated his rival Sebastian Vettel to take pole position at the Belgian GP race.

At the 2018 F1 qualifying session held at Spa Francorchamps circuit on Saturday (08/25/2018) night, the rain had flushed towards the end of Q2, making the Q3 take place in a wet track condition.

As a result, the riders also have to change to slick tires that make qualifications even more exciting. Competition between Hamilton and Vettel was won by Hamilton with a best time of one minute 58.179 seconds, winning far enough 0.726 seconds.

Vettel must be content to start tomorrow's race from second place. Wet track conditions also benefit a number of riders including Sebastian Ocon who drove the Force India car with a time of two minutes 01.851 seconds.

Completing the top five is Sergio Perez also from Force India and Romain Grosjean from Haas.

Kimi Raikkonen, Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo, Kevin Magnussen and Valtteri Bottas are in the sixth and tenth positions respectively.
