Among those improvements that the Scuderia brought to Singapore, one was clearly peeped by rivals for the peloton.

Changing the concept of his car last winter, Maranello lost all the advantages on the slow routes: if in 2017 the team was the fastest in Monaco, Hungary and Singapore, this season did not bring her success on any of these routes.

For the stage at the "Marina Bay", the Ferrari designers prepared another set of improvements to adapt their car to the specific requirements of this race.

Among other things, the rear wing - or rather, its end plates - has become different. In the transition area - the zone where the plate bends, changing the overall width of the wing - the idea that was first implemented in McLaren was realized, and this season the Mercedes and Renault were picked up (shown by the arrow in the first figure).

Two slits are clearly visible in this place - vertical and L-shaped. They allow to arrange the elements to the widest possible width, due to which it is possible to work more actively with the air currents flowing here and add an aerodynamic efficiency machine.

Here's how it all started on MCL32 in 2017:

Changes in the deflectors

It can not be said that the SF71H deflectors were completely new in Singapore, but they differed from the previous version. Fine tuning was required due to the fact that the average speed at this stage is lower, because the air flows more slowly along the machine body.

For this reason, the size and shape of the various surfaces became different. The very first S-shaped element (shown by a thin white arrow) was shifted slightly forward, and those that are located behind (shown in red arrows) received a more pronounced profile.

At the same time, vertical elements were shortened at the leading edge of the bottom (there are only three of them - they are clearly visible under the Ferrari logo) in order to interact with the incoming air in harmony with the rest of the details.
