You might have a better day in fantasy football if your backline was full of France players. For me, I don't dare that and always look to keep my team balanced. I had cover from both sides, thus something to cheer for and something to learn for the future. We have the first finalist of the World Cup 2018, as France breaks the heart of Belgium to enter into the Finals and will face the winner of England VS Croatia.
France:
France had a good game today and Lloris was the MOTM. France managed to keep a clean sheet, and 4 points for all the French backline player and 1 point for the French midfielder. Lloris was again excellent today, especially in the first half when Belgian players tested him many times. He had one of the best save of the match denying Alderwireld. Pavard was good going front and at the back. He missed a golden chance to get the goal when Mbappe set him. Also, he managed to push the Belgian forward back. Umtiti got the winner today and had a good game. He contributed 12 points for the fantasy manager if you had him. He had a moment in a game where he almost handed Lukaku a goal scoring opportunity. Both Varane and Hernandez did their best to keep Belgian quite in the game and also made a few mistakes too.
Kante, as usual, was fantastic with his key interceptions and passes to start the counterattacks, supported his defenders well. He conceded a yellow card, thus just 2 points for his managers. The other defensive midfielders Pogba, had a better game as he supported the front line with a number of important passes and supported the defensive line as well. Mbappe had a fantastic game and delivered a number of dangerous balls. He created many goal scoring opportunities and most of them were missed by Giroud. He is another candidate for the golden ball. Mbappe conceded a yellow card for wasting time, thus just 1 point for his owners. Griezmann got an assist for Umtiti goal, and 5 points for the fantasy managers. I think most fantasy managers had him. Griezmann linked up the match very well and troubled Belgian defenders but he missed some big goal scoring opportunities. Giroud had a frustrating game and once again lacked that final touch into goals, and it had been same for him throughout the tournament.
Belgium:
Belgium had a good game, created many good chances and dominated the possession. In terms of fantasy football, it is 2 points for all Belgian players except for who conceded yellow cards. Courtois was not tested many times but made good saves when required except for a header by Umtiti. If he had saved that, it would be a different story. Belgian defenders struggled with Mbappe pace. Alderweireld had a great shot in but was saved by Lloris. Kompany controlled Giroud very well with his power and strength, and performed well at the back and same goes for Vertonghen who had a job to take care of Mbappe, but Mbappe got better of him many times. Alderweireld and Vertonghen conceded yellow cards, thus 1 point each for their owners.
Wistel had a great shot outside of the box at the end of a game but Lloris made an excellent save to deny it. Dembele and Chadli had quite games and could not support their frontline and cope with Kante. Fellaini too had a golden chance to score the headers in the second half but it went just wide. De Buryne, the engine of the Belgian team did not have a good day today. He had some dangerous passes in the first half but remained silent in the second half. On other hands, Hazard had an excellent game with many dangerous runs in the first half. He was by far the best player of the Belgian team today but was unlucky to finish the game from losing side. And finally, Lukaku was missed in the big game and had quit display. He failed to find target many times, including clear goal scoring opportunity in the early second half.
