It was the third gold medal for the Netherlands in Olympic men’s field hockey. Germany took the silver medal with the loss, claiming their fourth silver medal in Olympic men’s field hockey. India defeated Spain 2-1 in the bronze medal game, winning their fourth bronze medal in Olympic men’s field hockey history. The tournament was held in France, with Paris as the host city.
