Alexis Sanchez celebrates scoring United's winning goal.

Alexis Sanchez completed a shocking comeback for Manchester United with a 90th minute header to record their first win in four games in all competitions.

Going into the match, there were rumours of Mourinho getting the boot afterwards following a meeting held earlier which was sternly refuted by the board.

With 10 minutes into the game, it looked like Mourinho was destined for his worst start in his career as a coach.

In the 7th minute, Kennedy was played on by Ayose Perez and he turned Ashley Young before curling an effort past David de Gea.

Three minutes later, it went from bad to worse. Yoshinori Muto made it two for Rafael Benitez's side after beating young again.

With United headed for another league defeat, Mourinho had to turn things around and made a drastic tactical change, taking off Eric Baily for Juan Mata.

The Spanish midfielder did repay the manager's trust, sending home a sublime free kick from 20 yards with 21 minutes left to play.

Martial put United level after combining well with Paul Pogba who has also been the centre of media attraction in the past few days.

With five minutes additional time left after 90 minutes of play completed, United kept the pressure on and got rewarded.

Paul Pogba once again involved. Holding up play to set Ashley Young into the right flank who delivered a wonderful cross into the middle and Sanchez delightfully met the cross with a pinpoint header into the bottom corner.

The win is Manchester United's first in five games across all competitions and may have done quite well to douse the pressure on Mourinho.
