The December rush of games is getting stronger with the fourth round of games of six to come in this month as Matchweek 16 didn't produce so many goals, arguably one of the lowest for the campaign so far.
Only nine games were played as the game between Tottenham and Brighton was postponed due to Covid-19 outbreak in the camp of the North London side.
Four teams ; Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool all needed penalties to snatch their narrow wins in a weekend of penalties
Across the remaining nine centers, 22 goals were scored, that's an average of 2.4 goals per game with the highest scoring match the 5-goal thriller between Chelsea and Leeds United at Stamford Bridge, which was decided by a late Jorginho penalty.
Of the nine centres, eight produced victories and seven of those for the home sides. Manchester United were the only away team that won on the road and they needed a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty to do that against Norwich City.
Youri Tielemans and Conor Gallagher both scored a brace each in their respective teams' victories, but for me, Gallagher is the pick of the week. The young man has been a revelation under Patrick Viera and Chelsea may be looking to infuse him into their first team at the end of his loan spell with the Eagles.
Here are your facts for the week.
Brentford 2-1 Watford
Brentford has won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five league games, coming on the back of four straight losses. Resurrecting.
Only Mohammed Salah, who has be involved in 23 Premier League goals this season (goals and assists) has bettered the number by Watford's Emmanuel Dennis, who has a hand in 12 League goals, with 7 goals and 5 assists. Running.
Manchester City 1-0 Wolves
Since joining City in 2017, Ederson Moraes has made 212 appearances for the blue side of Manchester and has kept 100 clean sheets. This is more than any other Premier League goalkeeper in all competitions in this time. Safe hands.
City have played 40 Premier League games in 2021, winning 32 (80%) with only 2 draws and 6 losses. Domineering.
Chelsea 3-2 Leeds United
Mason Mount has scored 6 and assisted 4 Premier League goals this season. He is only third behind Mohammed Salah (Liverpool - 23) and Emmanuel Dennis (Watford - 12) as the highest goal contributors in the league. Mounting.
Raphinha became the 13th player in the history of the Premier League to both score and concede a penalty in the same match. Unlucky.
Liverpool 1-0 Aston Villa
I doubt there is a week that passes without the mention Mo Salah. He's just been incredible. Liverpool scored for th 26th consecutive Premier League game, with Salah having either scored or assisted in his last 14 Premier League games. Red Lion.
Arsenal 3-0 Southampton
Southampton are winless away at Arsenal in their last 23 Premier League visits, losing 16 times and drawing 7. Waiting.
Martin Odegaard has scored in his third consecutive Premier League game for the Gunners from 7 shots. Talking about the number 7, that is the number of Premier League clean sheets that Aaron Ramsdale has kept for Arsenal this season. Growing status.
Burnley 0-0 West Ham
The draw against Burnley meant West Ham earned just their 5th point from a possible 15 with 1 win, 2 losses and draws each. Problem.
Since returning to the top flight in 2016, Burnley have recorded 19 0-0 draws in the competition, just one behind Southampton. Dry.
Leicester City 4-0 Newcastle United
Newcastle have conceded the highest number of goals in the Premier League this season with 34 goals in just 16 games. Basket.
Crystal Palace 3-1 Everton
Remember I said Conor Gallagher for me is the star of the week with his Man of the Match performance against Everton? He has scored six goals and assisted three this season for the Eagles in the Premier League. This amounts to 41% of his team's goals tht he has contributed to. Revelation.
It will not be long before the new gameweek resumes as matches return on Tuesday. Get ready!
