Manchester City striker, Gabriel Jesus has been handed a new 5-year contract extension with the English Champions until 2023.

The Brazilian who moved to the blue side of Manchester from Palmeiras in January 2017 has had an impressive first 18 moths with the citizens.

Jesus has gone on to score 24 goals in 53 appearances at the Etihad and become a fans' favorite.

The 21-year old who is already capped 22 times by Brazil led the lines for the Ṣẹlẹ̀ cap at the 2018 World Cup in Russia but failed to find the back of the net in the five matches they played, losing out in the quarterfinal to eventual Bronze medalists, Belgium.

This did not in any way stop the City board from tying the youngster down with a new long term contract.

He will resume action with the Blues and continue his fight for first team shirt with fellow South American, Sergio Aguero, as the new campaign begins.

Manchester City face Chelsea in the FA Community Shield on Sunday, the opening game of the Premier League season.
