It is just sad the way things turn out for Nigeria football, especially at a time when we have a very young generation of players for our senior national teams, both male and female. While the males are looking ot up their game and perhaps go up in the coming FIFA ranking by playing Brazil, the female football ois rocked by sour drama.

Thomas Dennerby unceremoniously resigned his position as the Head coach of the Nigerian female national team, The Super falcons. This came in the wake of our disastrous outing at the 2020 FIFA Women's World Cup in January.

Dennerby cites issues of lack of cooperation, interference and underqualified coaches he is being provided to work with. He said he had requested expatriates but has been denied.

While I am not a party to the FA interfering in the coach's job, especially when it has to do with players selection, I believe Dennerby was very unprofessional about the way he went about the whole situation. Finem, you may have issues (and I doubt there are coaches, especially at National teams level that do not have issues, either with fans or their FAs), but absconding as I like to see it, was not the best solution. He never returned to Nigeria after their ext for the World Cup in France. It is only in Nigeria that such will happen.

MY OPINION

While I have never been a fan of Dennerby as he doesn't show any tactical superiority than our home-based coaches, especially not with their humiliating outing at the World Cup in France, where our girls could hardly string four or five passes together without conceding possession, I support him resigning if truly his job was being interfered with.

The Nigeria FA should be ridden of the powers that be that will not allow managers to do their job.

What is your take on Countries FAs interfering in coaches jobs?
