French giants, Paris Saint Germain have completed the signing of Netherland international, Giorgino Wijnaldum on a free transfer.

The former Newcastle combative midfielder will be joining up with his new teammates in Paris after the 2020 Euros, following the expiration of his current contract with Liverpool.

Initial reports had strongly suggested that he was close to agreeing a move to Barcelona where he would have joined up with his former national team manager who now manages Barcelona, Ronald Koeman, but a last minute approach from PSG saw him convinced by the ongoing project of Mauricio Pochettino.

Wijnaldum, who was part of the rebuilding process that saw Liverpool return to become a power house in european football was unable to reach an agreement with the Reds on a new contract, subsequently playing his final game for them in the 2020/2021 final match day victory over Crystal Palace.

Having joined Liverpool from Newcastle United in 2016, Gini as he is fondly called racked up a total of 237 appearances for the Kops across all competitions, scoring 23 goals and providing 16 assists.

In his trophy cabinet are the UEFA Champions League won in 2019 and the Premier League crown won in 2020, Liverpool's first in three decades.

Gini Wijnaldum is not your overly flamboyant player, but his work rate, tenacity and skillfulness will be a very good addition to the PSG team as they continue their push for their first ever champions league trophy and to regain their place at the top of the French football.
