Lats night was another night of mesmerizing football display, not just for me but the whole of Nigeria and the football world (I want to believe...lol), as the Nigerian U-17 national team (the Golden Eaglets) completed their second comeback victory in their second consecutive game against Ecuador at the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.

After taking the lead very early in the game, the Ecuadorians began to put pressure and the naivety of both sides was obvious as they both scrambled to control the match but what was not lacking was skills and stylish displays, typical of the cadre tournament and especially, Nigerian teams at this level.

Two late goals from Ibrahim Sai'd who initially opened the scoring on the night before Ecuador scored two goals to take the lead, was enough to complete the comeback, making him the first match ball winner of the tournament.

MY OPINION

I must really commend the Manu Fgarba led side, along with former winner, both as a player and coach, Nduka Ugbade for the good work. This set of players especially look very young, compared to many sets that have been featured and some youthfulness could be visibly seen in their playing style and hunger. Kudos to them.

That said, they would need to help them work better with their defending. Yes, they are scoring goals but need to reduce conceding or at most, not always going down in a match and looking to come back. They are called the Comeback kings now but, that would not always be the case.

Wishing the team all the best.
