On Tuesday, the final round of Champions League games for Groups A to D were concluded and the two final teams in each group that progressed to the knockout stage were decided and the third teams qualifying for the Europa League

Here is a breakdown of how they went down

Group A

RB Leipzig ended Manchester City's 15-game unbeaten run against German sides in the Champions League with a 2-1 victory, in a match that saw Kyle Walker sent off for a silly challenge from behind.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Andre Silva gave the hosts the lead, before Riyad Mahrez reduced the deficit for City with his flying header.

A brace each from Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe ensured the PSG saw off stubborn Club Brugge, who held the French giant in the reverse fixture.

The win sent RB Leipzig into the Europa League while Club Brugge were eliminated completely from Europe.

Group B

In a tensed match typical of any game involving Atletico Madrid, Antoine Griezmann, Andrea Correa and Rodrigo De Paul put the game beyond Porto as the hosts only got a consolation from the penalty spot in the last minute of added time through Sergio Oliveira.

The match saw three red cards, two for RB Leipzig's Wendell and substitute goalkeeper, Agustin Marchesin for his involvement in a fracas. Yannick Carrasco also saw red for Atletico.

A much changed Liverpool side nonetheless saw of AC Milan, despite the Rossoneri scoring first through Fikayo Tomori.

Mohammed Salah and Divock Origi the goalscorers as Liverpool failed to drop a single point in the group stage.

AC Milan's defeat meant they crashed out of Europe totally, while Porto made it to the Europa League.

Group C

Ajax, one of the three teams in the group stage, who failed to drop a single point finished their group campaign on a high with a 4-2 defeat of Sporting Lisbon, with Sebastián Haller grabbing his 10th goal of the campaign, taking him to the top of the scorers' chart.

Borussia Dortmund welcomed back Erling Haaland, who had missed the better part of the group stages and it was like he was never out injured as he grabbed a brace, same with Marco Reus and a single goal from Donyell Malen as they saw off 10-men Besiktas and earn their spot in the Europa League.

Group D

Goals from David Alaba, a stunner from Toni Kroos and a third from Karim Benzema ensured that Real Madrid exerted revenge on Sheriff for their reverse fixture loss in Spain as the former European Champions won the group and Sheriff remain in Europe, but Into the Europa League.

Inter Milan settled for second after they defeated Shakthar Donetsk courtesy of a brace by Edin Dzeko.
