While the headline may be misleading, it is not to say that I am of the opinion that Unai Emery is better than Arsene Wenger.

Quite a number of fans around have began to curse the Wenger era, especially towards the end when Arsenal became more an onlooker than a contender.

Wenger joined Arsenal and built the names and structure whoever is the manger today is enjoying or would be enjoying.

He led Arsenal through the construction of a new stadium, leaving Highbury behind and still helped maintain relevance, at least to an extent. Of course that's not the kind of relevance Arsenal fans want. That said.

I used to be a Wenger person and tried to make a case for him whenever he was criticised for Arsenal's poor showing, giving excuses of he had not much funds, he was only striving on the limited fund available.

Despite the fans used to put up a "Wenger Out" banner, it doesn't mean they hated him, they only wanted more. This was evident at his send forth. They turned our en masse and were even shedding tears. That's how much they loved him

Watching Arsenal this season, especially in the league (forget the two losses to Manchester City and Chelsea), I realised that what Arsenal needed indeed was not a "father-like" person at the helms like Wenger was to most of the players (like Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere) but a "business minded" man.

Even those two losses were undeserved from from the Arsenal point of view. Yes the first game of the season, against the Champions who were on the back of a record smashing season wouldn't have been the best for a team that was just getting used to a new system but it improved a giant Chelsea and the loss to the blues was the most painful, after rallying behind from two goals down.

Arsene's business mind was to make money for the club regardless of whether the team was winning trophies or the fans were happy.

When very he came out to say "Arsenal is still in contention for the title", I always sneered, even though a part of me wanted to believe but then, we lacked the "attitude" and I think that's what Unai Emery has brought.

Watching the game against Leicester City last night, after going a goal down, I saw an Arsenal that irate like a mad dog with rabies. The goal conceded bit everyone in a painful part and they all sat up.

Responding immediately to the goal and maintain the momentum afterwards to turn things around us the true hallmark of champion.

Emery has made a statement with his tactics and approach signalling to every player to sit up or be axed.

I was one of those yearning for him to always start Lucas Torreira whenever he paired Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendozi but now I realised, he was only looking for who to perfectly partner the Uruguayan between the two.

Torreira has been fantastic for Arsenal. His tackling and interception rates have been massive. The last time I think Arsenal saw something like that was in the Patrick Vieira era. Watch out for Torreira, My signing of the season.

It is still the early season yet to start praising Emery for a job well done but this time in the last 10 seasons or so we all know we're never this good. Hoping the good run bears fruits this season.

Let the games begin!
