Liverpool and Tottenham met on Wednesday night in a real showdown, The home team from Liverpool was all dominating in the first half of the match.

Deserved lead goal for Liverpool from Mohammed Salah in the first half but the lead did not last very long, Seven minutes later the always dangerous Heung-Min Son came through alone down towards Alisson and they levelled to 1-1 and thus Tottenham had taken advantage of the only chance they had had so far in the match.

It was also remarkable to see the statistics on ball possession after the first 45 minutes. Liverpool claimed to be the more dominant force in the game and the statistics agreed with them possession being 79 percent.

The second half was a more equal affair, Liverpool pressure was not as heavy as in the first half and Tottenham also showed their brilliance. Liverpool started to press again, and this resulted in a late lead goal, Andrew Robertson neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to Roberto Firmino who had the whole net open before him and managed to hit the post and they took the lead by 2-1.

With the victory, Liverpool is now alone in first place in the Premier League, Last season's champions have three points down to Tottenham in second place and overall it is a very close position.
