Luka Modric won the most prestigious career in London this evening - the award for the best player in the world.

In addition to the captain of the Croatian national team, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohammed Salah also came in for competition.

The Portuguese did not appear at the award ceremony, although he was selected in the best team of the year.

Modric was celebrating in front of the captain of the Portuguese national team and his former teammate from Real Madrid, now Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo, before Egypt and Liverpool striker Mohammed Salah, as well as captains of national teams and journalists.

In terms of votes, Argentina's captain Lionel Messi gave the most points to Modric, while Cristiano Ronaldo voted for Frenchman Rafael Varan, who was his first choice for player of the year.

Modric won 29.05% of the vote, while Ronaldo was second with 19.08%.

The Portuguese, as we have already mentioned, did not appear at the official London ceremony, as did August 30 in Monaco, when Modric was named Europe's best player in the European Football Federation (UEFA) election.

Modric then celebrated before Ronaldo and Salah.

From Juventus previously said that none of their team will not be in London, because it's time for their next match within Serie A.

In addition, look at how Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi voted, as well as other captains of the national teams:
