When Lopetegui takes charge of Madrid's Manager, the team needed proper reinforcement but Courtois and Odriozola came in such position which was not priorities. Mariano is not a proper replacement for the position. They let go Kovacic too without replacement despite Lopetegui publically request for such.

Lopetegui found himself, coach of that squad which is worse than before, he tried but requirements were the same, board never tried to listen to him in time and now they sacked him.

I think Lopetegui was just an unfortunate coach being at Real Madrid at the wrong time. I know he tried his best. He tried by playing with the same squad, he tried by changing frequently, he tried by a benched player like Modric, he tried by playing Vazquez in RB but when you are sort of scorer than only creating chance is not gonna work. He tried what he can but Madrid life will never be same without reliable replacement of Ronaldo.

Lopetegui's father said well said, they stole 50 goals from his son and I want to add is they didn't give him a tools which could produce even a single goal.
