The name Mauro Icardi was knocked out of the Argentine national team when coached by Jorge Sampaoli. Now, when Sampaoli stepped down, his name returned to the squad.

Inter Milan captain is currently with the Argentine national team in the United States for friendly matches against Guatemala and Colombia. While in the United States, Icardi was asked to respond to his recall by the national team.

The 25-year-old striker said he was with the national team to prove that he was indeed worthy of appearing. He also touched on the interim coach Lionel Scaloni who gave him opportunities and trust.

When asked for a response regarding Sampaoli's decision not to take him to the World Cup, Icardi refused to answer in detail. He reasoned that everything was the coach's decision.

"Don't ask me why I wasn't summoned for the World Cup. The coach (Sampaoli, ed) decided I was out of the squad until everything was over," Icardi said

"I am always ready for the national team. We have to think about today and the future," he continued.

As we know, Icardi was not called Sampaoli when Argentina appeared in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. On that occasion Argentina appeared disappointing by being eliminated from the round of 16 so Sampaoli then retreated.

Previously, Veron was not called to invite the concerns of Juan Sebastian Veron. The former Tango team member questioned Sampaoli's decision not to take Icardi to Russia.

Veron was very surprised by Sampaoli's bold move to leave Icardi. According to Veron, Icardi is very suitable for Argentina in the 2018 World Cup.
