Mane and is teammate you hope to continue their smooth ride in the ongoing AFCON. The team has shown a high level of discipline so far both in the attack, the midfield and the defence. They have conceded just one(1) goal after four(4) games in this competition and that was against Algeria and scored six(6) goals with Sane Mane leading the goal scoring chart with three(3) goals from three games and he will truly be the center of concentration in today's game as the glory of his team lay on his shoulder as the captain of the side.
After four (4) games they are rated 6.93 with 1.5 goal per match and an average possession of 57% with 80.2% pass accuracy.
I'm having a problem here with the attackers looking at 14.3 shot per game but 1.5 goal per game meaning that they have been wasteful upfront.
For discipline they have been booked six(6) times with all been yellow card.
Journey So Far:
Senegal got to the quarter finals after a Senegal 2-0 win over Tanzania on 23th of June, bow to Algeria 0-1 on 27th June and then over powered Kenya by 3-0 on July 1st to finish 2nd in the group. They then eliminate Uganda after a 0-1 win on 5th July,2019 to meet Benin Republic today 10th of July.
It's a miraculous journey for the Benin side as it takes series of draws to be here. It took them a 2-2 draw will Ghana on matchday 1 and then a 0-0 draw against Guinea-Bissau and defending champions Cameroon on matchday 2 and 3 respectively to qualify as best looser before meeting high-flying Morocco in which they eliminate on penalties after a 1:1 draw.
Benin Republic will the missing the services of Khaled Adénon who has really helped them in their defensive play so far in the competition after being given a matching order at the round of 16 against Morocco after going into the referee book on two occasion but the good news is that striker Steve Mounie will resume play after being banned from round of 16.
Tactics:
Senegal will be using a 4-2-3-1 formation with Sarr and Mané playing from the wings while Niang will remain as the lone striker upfront. Benin Republic held onto their 5-4-1 compact formation with Mounie going solo.
Team News:
Senegal manager Aliou Cissé could start the same team for the third straight game today. The coach has so much faith on this squad as they hope to escape the Benin Republic trap.
Badou Ndiaye and Kalidou Koulibaly are a booking away from suspension.
They have to be very careful as the team cannot afford to miss their services if they progress to the next level.
Prediction: Senegal 2:1 Benin Republic as I'm not expecting any shocking result again.
