Football (soccer) as we all know is a team sport consisting of 11 players pay team and any additional person on the field of place, be it the officials, the medical team, or the organizers should be neutral. That is to say that they have no power to influence the out come of the match result and I believe that the rules still remain.

Background Information

South Africa hosted the Super Eagles on matchday 5 of the AFCON qualifiers to decide who qualifier first in Group E. The Bafana Bafana needed the three points more as anything below that would be a tread to their dream to qualify for next year AFCON in Cameroon.

Bafana Bafana defeated Nigeria on the first leg 2-0 in Uyo and they were hoping that they will repeat the same on home soil but that wasn't the case.

The Nigeria nation team started attacking few seconds into the game which shows that they had a plan for the game. And from I believe that was to take the same pound of flesh they took when they came to Uyo.

The Super Eagles took the lead 7 minutes into the game but was rule for an offside by the Lines man, who's magical powers reverse the goal.

The second one came 7 minutes to the end of the second half, which would have thrown the home side into mourning as Seychelles vs Libya ended 1-8, but again the lines man came to their rescue with his magical strength as Ahmed Musa goal was rule offside yet again.

The Officials Got It All Wrong

I had this feeling that the Super Eagles were being robbed on the field of play and as a loyal fan of the Super Eagles I felt cheated as well. I have to spend some time to design this graphics to justify my decisions.

The First Magic

From the picture above it can be clearly seen from this angle of view that the two South Africa defenders (black box) has put Ahmed Musa on side. The arrows shows both the ball and Musa's movement as he got the pass from Kelechi lhenacho. The white box shows the distance Ihenacho and the guy marking him had to cover even passing the two men on the defense line. The red line shows where the offside flag could have been raised if the was any, but the Lines man (black circle at far left) did that seconds later, giving room for questions.

The Second Magic

It was no longer funny when this on happened. We can clearly see that both Isaac Success and Musa were fully on side looking at it from different angles. I wonder what the officials were up to by denying Nigeria all three points. I'm really feeling bitter because I was there when they won us at home and it was not a good one.

The Defenders Got It Wrong As Well.

The Super Eagles draw the first blood 2 minutes after their first goal was cancelled. It was an own goal by B. Mkhwanazi as a result of a reflection from Kalu's cross.

On the 25th minute L. Mothiba scored an equalising goal to bring Bafana Bafana back into the game, all thanks goes to Percy Tau who beats three of Nigeria's defenders before assisting him.

Let take a look at the defense line.

That's Leon Balogun floating in his own box there by giving Mothiba room to make his own decisions.

Percy Tau walking past the Eagles defense without stress.

This shows how porous our defense line was. Defenders marking space.

Conclusion

The Gambian referee Bakary Gassama and his officials decisions influence the result of the game.

At the end of the day both teams went away with a point.

Gernot Rohr Boys needed just a point to qualify in which they did but for South Africa, they still have one more huddle to cross if they want to be in Cameroon next year.

I call for VAR in CAF Qualifications matches soon, both in the club and national level.
