Pearson flew out of Leicester after the orgy of his son with a pair of teammates, where they racially humiliated Thai prostitutes. Although usually Nigel himself created reasons for dismissal, this resignation was absurd: he presented a fairy tale before Ranieri and laid the foundation of the team, which a year later won the Premier League.

Brilliant rescue in the Premier League

The Great Escape, Leicester's fantastic escape in the 2014/15 season is one of the best moments in the history of the Premier League. Until April, the team did not leave the relegation zone, and then knocked out a series of seven victories in nine matches and finished in 14th place.

Despite the initial results, the club looked very vigorously at a distance. Hungry, driving, aggressive - the “foxes” were breaking, but they still lost - due to weak defense.

None of the second ten did not play against the top clubs so cool. Defeats 0: 2 from Arsenal, 1:3 from Liverpool, 1:2 and 3: 4 from Tottenham; winter draws with Liverpool and Everton; victory over Manchester United 5:3 - in these matches, the Leicester players played as hard and boldly as the team that closes the standings just can't play.

20th place and a half months to finish. In the Leicester position, it seemed, it was possible to let go of everything - but it turned out the opposite. If in such a situation the team does not relax, but works with redoubled strength, this is the work of the coach.

During the season, the gloomy Pearson went through nine schemes: most of the season played four defenders, but in April they settled on a formation in three centre-backs. The saturation of the defense and the center of the field solved part of the problems, plus Kasper Schmeichel, who returned after a broken arm, fired a pair of killer performances.

The success of Leicester is explained by simple logic, which, however, does not always fit into the concept of football: keep up the effort - you will achieve. The guys who worked to no avail, suddenly came to the fore and overshadowed the big clubs. Mahrez, Schmeichel, Drinkwater, Vardy - thanks to The Great Escape, we really noticed them, and Roy Hodgson called Jamie to the England team.

Leicester initially opposed the purchase of Vardy, but Pearson and chief breeder Steve Walsh insisted. The guide with the fans cursed the noname for its first season: he was psyched, booze and even wanted to leave. The coach persuaded: “The attackers rate themselves through the number of goals. You can tell him that when we are without a ball, he does everything right. But he finds it hard to believe.” The problem was that in non-leagues, where Vardy played, forwards were practically not taught to act without the ball. At 25, he allowed Pearson to break himself and gather in a new football player.

First layoff from Leicester

After returning to the Championship from League 1 in the 2009/10 season, Leicester finished fifth, but lost in a penalty shootout to Cardiff in the playoffs for reaching the Premier League. This is a strong result, but in the final failure the club found an opportunity to fire an uncomfortable coach.

Before the second leg with the Welsh there was a scandal: Pearson threw out of the team main defender Wayne Brown. It turned out that in the elections he supported the ultra-right BNP party, which insulted partners, some of whom were from ethnic minorities. Furious, Nigel ordered a search for a new club and, with a decision made, went to the bosses. The next excess of authority was another reason for the conflict with the leadership - the coach was fired.

A month later, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha bought Leicester.

The Englishman is hard to compromise and often the goat, because of which it is completely ridiculous to lose work. The only club where Pearson left peacefully is Carlisle United, his first. He learned about the dismissal from Southampton from his children - they heard on TV. Derby County suspended a couple of hours before the start of the game - Nigel's second dismissal in three months. Hull after eight victories in 16 rounds, he threw in front of the heaviest segment - for the sake of returning to Leicester.

McArthur's strangulation and farewell to Leicester

After the great comeback with United (5:3 after 0:2), Leicester issued a failed series of three months (2 of 39 possible points), and then another shorter one (2 of 24). At the height of the winter catastrophe, Pearson violently grabbed the midfielder of Crystal Palace, James McArthur, by the throat - it seemed to be the end.

The tabloids said goodbye to Pearson. And he - with Leicester: “I drank with friends in a pub, when everyone around was discussing my dismissal. And the next day I returned to work.” The club changed its mind.

Pearson has a bad temper, not at all suitable for a tolerant elite division.

Relationship with Vichai

After the announcement of Leicester on the resignation of Pearson in June 2015, details emerged that he learned about it by phone. And without that, the sweltering story became even nastier: the coach who saved the team was fired for his son’s misdeed - not even in a personal conversation. But there is a detail that changes everything: Pearson and Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha were always in touch. Obviously, after the decision to resign, the Thai man was far away and could only warn Nigel by telephone.

That dismissal is a necessary image measure, and it is silly to blame Vichai that business is more important to him. He simply could not openly support a person associated with a racist scandal that directly affects his native people.

Waking up from the failure in the Derby, Pearson suddenly went to Belgium to train Leuven. A few months before the team bought the Srivaddhanaprabha's company.

After the death of Leicester’s owner, the coach told The Coaches ’Voice in an interview:

“One day Vichai gave me an incredibly expensive bottle. It was inconvenient to accept her, but he insisted ... She is still with me. And he could not imagine what kind of reason he would make open such a valuable gift. But now I know.”
