Hello,
the 2nd matchday from the Geman Bundesliga finished yesterday. It was again a matchday full of unexcpected surprises. I will go with the matches one by one.
Hannover 96 - Borussia Dortmund 0-0 (0-0)
Line-ups
Hannover 96: Esser – Sorg, Anton (c), Wimmer, Albornoz (Ostrzolek 86') – Bebou (Bakalorz 89'), Fossum, Walace, Maina – Asano (Wood 46'), Füllkrug
Coach: Andre Breitenreiter
Borussia Dortmund: Bürki – Piszczek, Akanji, Diallo, Schmelzer – Dahoud (Guerreiro 86'), Witsel, Delaney – Wolf, Philipp (Sancho 79'), Reus (c)
Coach: Lucien Favre
It was goales draw, where Hannover 96 seemed the team happier for the result. With this result, Borussia Dortmund lost their top spot after the 1st matchday. For the team from Hannover, which was last year struggling to remain in the Bundesliga being only 6 points away from the relegation play-offs this season start could be counted as good as they did not loose any game. For Dortmund this result is a setback in their figth for the title.
Eintracht Frankfurt - Werder Bremen 1-2 (0-1)
Goals: 0-1 Osako (23'), 1-1 Haller (54' pen.), 1-2 Rashica (90+6')
Line-ups
Frankfurt: Trapp - da Costa, Abraham, Salcedo (Ndicka 11'), Willems - Torro, Fernandes – Müller (Tawatha 35'), Gacinovic (de Guzman 68'), Kostic – Haller
Coach: Adi Hütter
Bremen: Pavlenka (Plogmann 53') - Gebre Selassie, Veljkovic, Moisander, Augustinsson – Bargfrede (Rashica 83') - Eggestein, Klaassen - Osako, Kainz – Harnik (Pizarro 59'), Kruse
Coach: Florian Kohfeldt
What a match in Frankfurt this Saturday. The Cup Winners from the past season, received one of the teams that really struggled the past seasons. The team from Bremen had a draw in the first game against Hannover. One factor that facilitated the win of Werder was the red card received by Willems (33'). After conceiving a goal (Osako (23')) and even playing in 10, Frankfurt managed to equalise with the penalty kick transformed by Haller (54' pen.). Werder managed to take the 3 points with the goal by Rashica (90+6').
FC Augsburg - Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-1 (1-0)
Goals: 1-0 Gregoritsch (12'), 1-1 Plea (68')
Line-ups
Augsburg: Giefer – Schmid, Gouweleeuw, Hinteregger, Max – Khedira, Baier (c) – Richter (Caiuby 72'), Hahn, Koo (Götze 75') – Gregoritsch (Ji 90')
Coach: Manuel Baum
Gladbach: Sommer (c) – Beyer (Zakaria 46'), Ginter, Jantschke, Wendt – Strobl – Hazard, Neuhaus (Cuisance 89'), Hofmann, Johnson – Raffael (Plea 46')
Coach: Dieter Hecking
After the win in the first match, Augsburg was highly motivated to keep the 3 points at home. This was shown at the start of the game with the goal scored by Gregoritsch (12'). Nevertheless, Borussia is one of the teams on the Bundesliga that manages to come back and so they did this time with the goal by Plea (68'). The teams tried on both sides to win, but the finishing was lacking.
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim - SC Freiburg 3-1 (0-1)
Goals: 0-1 Heintz (36’), 1-1 Szalai (50’), 1-2 Szalai (63’), 1-3 Kramaric (93')
Line-ups
Hoffenheim: Baumann – Bicakcic (Akpoguma 19’ (Nordtveidt 46’)), Vogt (c), Adams (Kramaric 44’) – Kaderabek, Grillitsch, Schulz – Bittencourt, Zuber – Joelinton, Szalai
Coach: Julian Nagelsmann
Freiburg: Schwolow - Stenzel, Guide (Koch 89'), Heintz, Günter - Höfler - Höler (Terrazzino 66'), Gondorf, Frantz (c) - Petersen, Niederlechner (Waldschmidt 81')
Coach: Christian Streich
SC Freiburg came in with big hopes and for half of the match it seemed that they will do the surprise of the matchday with the goal scored by Heintz (36’). Szalai (50’,63’) and Kramaric (93') brought us back to reality. Hoffenheim is a powerhouse which finished last year 3rd in the Bundesliga and Freiburg barely avoided relegation. We have seen this in the second half where Hoffenheim played a very good football.
1.FC Nürnberg - FSV Mainz 05 1-1 (0-1)
Goals: 0-1 Mateta (25’) ,1-1 Ishak (48’)
Line-ups:
Nuremberg: Bredlow – Valentini, Mühl, Margreitter, Leibold – Behrens (c), Petrak, Fuchs – Palacios (Löwen 65’), Ishak, Kubo
Coach: Michael Köllner
Mainz: Müller – Brosinski, Bell (c), Niakhate (Bungert 46’), Aaron – Maxim (Boetius 67’), Kunde, Baku, Onisiwo – Quaison, Mateta
Coach: Sandro Schwarz
It was a lucky point for Mainz. The team from Nürnberg had many more chances, even after Mainz scored with Mateta (25’), the draw brought by Ishak (48’) is unfair towards 1.FC Nürnberg which made a good impression in the debut in front of their supporters this season.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen - VfL Wolfsburg 1-3 (1-1)
Goals: 1-0 Bailey (24’), 1-1 Ozcan (36’-og), 1-2 Weghorst (55’), 1-3 Steffen (60’)
Line-ups
Leverkusen: Özcan – Weiser, Tah, Dragovic, Wendell (Aranguiz 59') – L. Bender (c), Havertz – Brandt, Volland (Paulinho 71'), Bailey – Alario (Thelin 71')
Coach: Heiko Herrlich
Wolfsburg: Pervan – William, Knoche, Brooks, Roussillon (Uduokhai 84')– Arnold (c), Gerhardt, Camacho – Steffen (Mehmedi 67'), Weghorst (Ginczek 81'), Brekalo
Coach: Bruno Labbadia
One of the two big surprises from this matchday. Leverkusen was seen at the start of the season as of the contenders for the Champions League places in Germany. Wolfsburg struggled last year and even had to play the relegation play-offs. After two games the situation looks very different, where Wolfsburg is on the 2nd place and Bayer on the relegation ones. They opened the score with Bailey (24’), but after receiving the own goal by Ozcan (36’), their game collapsed, letting Wolfsburg score twice - Weghorst (55’), Steffen (60’)
VfB Stuttgart - FC Bayern München 0-3 (0-1)
Goals: 0-1 Goretzka (37'), 0-2 Lewandowski (61'), 0-3 Müller (76')
Line-ups
Stuttgart: Zieler – Maffeo, Pavard, Baumgartl, Insua – Gentner (c) (Didavi 64'), Castro (Akolo 78'), Ascacibar, Donis (Thommy 57') – Aogo – Gomez
Coach: Tayfun Korkut
Bayern: Neuer (c) – Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Alaba – Thiago, Goretzka - Robben (James 78'), Müller (Tolisso 80'), Ribery (Gnabry 77') - Lewandowski
Coach: Niko Kovac
Bayern did what it knows best, winning by scoring a load of goals. This time there have been three goals: Goretzka (37'), Lewandowski (61'), Müller (76'). Schalke misses Goretzka, that is for sure, as Goretzka was named the player of this matchday in Bundesliga. Stuttgart is now on the last spot and seem to be one of the teams that will relegate this season. They still need to score a goal as they missed their chances in the first two games.
RB Leipzig - Fortuna Düsseldorf 1-1 (0-0)
Goals: 0-1 Zimmermann (47'), 1-1 Augustin (68')
Line-ups
Leipzig: Gulacsi – Mukiele, Demme (c) (Poulsen 86'), Mukiele, Saracchi – Forsberg, Ilsanker, Kampl, Bruma (Sabitzer 54') – Werner, Augustin (Matheus Cunha 71')
Coach: Ralf Rangnick
Düsseldorf: Rensing – Zimmer, Ayhan, Hoffmann, Kaminski, Gießelmann – Zimmermann (Stöger 80'), Sobotka (c) – Morales – Hennings (Raman 69'), Ducksch (Karaman 90')
Coach: Friedhelm Funkel
RB Leipzig had a harsh start this season, after the first matchday being on the last position. This time they have hoped for an easy win against the newly promoted team from Düsseldorf. Fortuna even aimed for the win, with Zimmermann (47') opening the score. Luckily for Leipzig is that they have Augustin who managed to bring the equalizer (68').
Schalke 04 - Hertha BSC 0-2 (0-1)
Goals: 0-1 Duda (15'), 0-2 Duda (90')
Line-ups
Schalke: Fährmann (c) – Sane, Naldo, McKennie – Caligiuri, Rudy (Serdar 51'), Bentaleb, Baba (Harit 73') – Embolo (Burgstaller 57'), Uth – Konoplyanka
Coach: Domenico Tedesco
Hertha: Jarstein – Stark, Rekik (Dilrosun 6') Torunarigha – Lazaro, Grujic, Duda, Meier – Kalou (Jastrzembski 90'), Ibisevic (c) (Lustenberger 67'), Mittelstädt
Coach: Pal Dardai
It was a surprising win for Hertha BSC as they encountered the runners up from last season. We can say it was the day of Duda who scored a double (15',90'). Schalke wanted to show that the game from last week was an unlucky accident. It seems that it wasn't and that the departure of Leon Goretzka weakened the team.
