Director Karl-Hainz Rummenigge confirms that German champions Bayern Munich are interested in Dayot Upamecano from direct league rivals RB Leipzig, but denies that it is certain that the player will end up in Munich.

The reason for the champions' interest must clearly be found in the fact that Austrian David Alaba is expected to leave the German this summer, when his contract expires. Bayern's interest in the 22-year-old Leipzig defender is not so strange, however, as he has just rounded out the 100 Bundesliga matches for Leipzig since his debut back in 2017.

The Frenchman is considered one of the most promising defenders in international football right now, and he has been mentioned by several English big clubs. He has been a huge star for his German club and it has also made a debut for the French national team.

No doubt Dayot Upamecano will be chased by a number of clubs this summer, and in Germany Bayern tend to get their wish.
