Inter's Argentine striker was in the spotlight at several major clubs around Europe this summer. Barcelona in particular were very interested and made no secret of the fact that they wanted the Argentine for Catalonia. However, Martinez's release clause of $120 million was just over what the Spanish big club would give.

Now, however, a new club offers itself on the field in the battle for the striker. According to several media outlets, including Eurosport, Marca Claro and Football Italia, Manchester City should be very interested in bringing Martinez to England.

He could be the optimal successor to Sergio Aguero at the club, and could eventually become teammate with Lionel Messi next year, who was rumored to be at Manchester City this summer. Messi's contract in Barcelona expires this summer and it is uncertain whether the club legend will stay.

Lautaro Martinez joined Inter in 2018 from Argentine Racing Club and has during his time at Inter played 94 matches and scored 34 goals.
