Former Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino has been unemployed after being sacked by the Premier League club a year ago, but now it appears he is set to resume his coaching career. Allegedly, after a series of dubious results, the Real Madrid management should be looking for a replacement for the current coach, Zinedine Zidane.

There have long been rumors that 'Los Blancos' legend Raul should be the man to take over as coach. The retired star striker has since 2018 trained various youth teams in the capital club. Now, however, Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly overtaken him on Real Madrid's priority list.

The Argentine coach has previously been close to signing with Real Madrid. In 2016, when he still held the manager's seat at Tottenham, he himself was interested in taking over for the then 'Los Blancos' coach Rafael Benitez. However, Premier League club owner Daniel Levy refused to sign his release clause at the time.
