Schalke 04 have only scored 12 goals in 15 tournament matches in the Bundesliga, but their old striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar may now have to help change that. According to Tipsbladet, it is the German media Bild and Kicker who are out with the surprising rumor.

Huntelaar announced back in December that this season would be his last at the top level. A career that previously brought him past Schalke, who probably still remembers the 126 goals he achieved for the Germans, in the seven years he spent at "Die Königsblau".

This season, the striker has not enjoyed the same confidence from Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag, where so far it has been ten games and five goals. However, Schalke are probably hoping for a repeat of Huntelaar's 2011-12 season, where he scored 29 goals for the club.

Huntelaar really made his breakthrough in the football world when he scored a total of 34 goals for Ajax Amsterdam in 2007-08. That got Real Madrid themselves to pick up the striker, which they, however, just a season later passed on.

Schalke need that reinforcement to such an extent, as they have only scored 12 goals in the league and right now are tempting a life in the relegation zone in 17th place in the Bundesliga.
